Home Economics Along with the courses in general homemaking, foods, clothing, textiles, and nutrition, the Carl- mont home economics department offered family relations, child development, housing, home man- agement and health to prepare girls for their fu- ture homemaking careers. The foods courses ranged from baking a cake to preparing exotic foreign dishes. The girls in the clothing classes have certain requirements which must be completed during the year, those being skirts, blouses, dresses and an optional project. Whether finishing a hem or making a cake, girls are sure to discover the fun of creating a perfect product. Miss Shirley Sweet Mrs. Bernice Thurston BUBBLE, BUBBLE, TOIL AND TROUBLE.

Library i Carlmont ' s school librarian has many duties, but first she is a teacher. With a great deal of materials at her command, she has helped students and teachers throughout the year make full use of the 16,493 volumes in the school library. About 1,000 students use the library daily. Mrs. Phyllis Speck, Mrs. Phyllis Miller, Miss Esther Firth, Mrs. Elizabeth Hershel. Custodians The custodial staff has stated that this has been one of the best years in keeping the school clean. According to Dave Whestone, vandalism this past year has been very limited. The most serious of- fense was that of the breaking in of the girls ' locker room during Christmas va- cation. He feels that Chimney Corners was kept fairly clean during the lunch periods but would like to see more improvement next year.
