Art DRAWING TEXTURES IN GENERAL ART Karl Bauer Chairman Vern Gleason Richard Inman Carlmont offered seven art courses this year, one of which included a new subject — welded sculpture. Most of these courses varied in instruction from one to three years. Not Shown; Richard Price. The District Administration was smoothly run this year by Dr. Rex Turner and the Board of Trustees. Under the direction of District Superinten- dent Dr. Rex Turner, testing, maintenance, building plans and checking of general curri- culum was accomplished. English The English department, headed by Andrew Garbarino, continued working on district ex- periments, such as advanced standing classes, which prepare the above-average student for college English in his senior year. Seniors have a choice of Development Reading, Senior Com- position, Language and Thought, World Litera- ture, or English IV combination. Eleven lay readers helped ease the theme- reading load on English teachers. The staff numbered 18 with the addition of a new teacher, but average class size continued to run high, over 32.
