Library and Bookroom Keeping track of 10,000 books and 175 different periodicals required the full-time attention of Miss Esther Firth, Mrs. Phyllis Speck, and Mrs. Elizabeth Hershel. Music This year the Christmas program, the Band-o-Rama and the Spring Con- cert displayed the talents of the music department. Our outstanding marching band performed at sports rallies and games. The department offered four choral and three instrumental courses. HEY, LOOK, YOUR FEET ARE WET LET THERE BE RAIN English A new advanced standing English course was offered to qualified freshmen this year, enabling them to take a col- lege English course in their senior year. When they enter college, they will be placed in a sophomore English class. Senior electives in Drama, Composi- tion, Developmental Reading, Business English, World Literature, and English IV became voluntary for the first time this year, 70 per cent of the seniors signing to take one.
