( board of publications — (I to r): steve petty, mike dobrin, sue stockbridge, elsa ertresvaag, jack o ' neil, bev nemic, and sue normand. the board of culture ' s main objec- tive is to encourage activities that make students aware of our nation ' s culture. commissioner duane norris and her board sponsored the annual arts and crafts week and coordinated and cleared all school assemblies and gen- eral school functions. the board is advised by mrs. deborah kiviaho. the board of publications was in charge of coordinating the activities of the three carlmont publications: vistas, the yearbook; the carlmonitor, the newspaper; and echoes, the liter- ary magazine. besides this the board was also responsible for the printing of the sports programs for carlmont ' s home games. com- missioner sue stockbridge and the ad- visor, mr. malcolm west have super- vied the group. the board also planned the annual banquet held late in the year. board of {publications 22

board of social affairs — back row: dorls tyson, sue hogan, and Joan Hoffman, front row: bob vitorello, jeanie milne, and dick weir. carlmon+ ' s social activities are planned carefully and thoroughly by the board of social affairs under the leadership of commissioner joan hoffman and advisor mrs. elsie du bois. this board is also re- sponsible for seeing that we have a well proportioned and distri- buted social program throughout the year, several of the activities sponsored by the board this past year have been twirp week, hello day, and the noon dance on valentines day. board of social affairs 23
