board of finance all financial activities undertaken by the student body this year were coordinated by the board of finance under the managennent of madallne coppom, commissioner of finance, and the advisor, mr. gene worthlng- ton. this board was in charge of student body card sales and was largely responsible for the winning of the sales trophy. this board has been very beneficial to the students by providing help necessary to handle all money taken in, all payments made, and the maintenance of all necessary records by the student body. board of finance — standing: madeline coppom and sharon baxter. seated: jacltie taylor, sharon mc kay, janet gale and karen peterson. board of commissioners — standing: nnike hansen, sharon godfrey, bick goss, nnadellne copponn, duane norris, jolly yager, Joan hoffman, and nancy sears, seated: ann hamp- hiil, bob farina, and linda mahlsfedt. board of commissioners acting as the executive branch of our student government is the board of commissioners, which is made up of the eleven student commissioners, the chief justice of the tribunal, and the two advisors to the board, mr. griffin and mrs. du bois. activities which the board spon- sored this year included the peninsula athletic league conference, the com- missioners dance, december dream , and the highland festival at the end of the year, this is actually the most important board since it is respon- sible for coordinating the eleven com- missions into a workable student government. 15

4 l 4 iiillllMIIIIIMIIIIIIWIIIIIIIIIllll Bteiii ' ' .J ' 6 student body officers this year for the first time in carl- mont ' s history two student body offi- cers were elected, bob farina, presi- dent, and linda mahlstedt, vice presi- dent. the duties of the president are to take charge at all meetings of the student body and the board of com- missioners, the vice president pre- sides at all legislature meetings and heads all special committees. student body officers — linda mahlstedt and bob farina. student legislature the student legislature meets once a month in chimney corners, two people are elected from each administrative class, a total of one hundred legislators, the vice president of the student presides at the meetings and a secretary, jerry green, was elected from among its members, miss rose chaplin advises this law making body. carlmont ' s tribunal is the judiciary branch of the student government and functions in much the same way as the regular established courts of the amerl- can judiciary system, the tribunal consisting of seven tribunes is headed by lars Johnson, the chief justice, and is advised by mr. hal olson. the tri- bunal is the means by which the laws of the legis- lature and board of commissioners can be properly enforced. tribunal tribunal — gary warden, margaret bannerman, bill Thompson, nancy owens, lars John- son, shelia charnow. judy muhlfelder, and sue lindsay. 16
