The staff of Carlmont ' s yearbook, The Vistas, organized during Carlmont ' s first year worked many hours to present this, their second book. Organization of the book was started by the editors. This was done with the help of the Journalism Conference, the N.C.S.P.A., at Stanford, which mem- bers of the staff attended . Then the work was presented to the staff. Each mem- ber used his particular skill in the fields of advertising, layout, art, writing,busi- ness, photography, and editing. As the year progressed, the book began to take shape, finally to become a finished pro- duct. All thiscouldn ' thave been done with- out the aid and guidance of the editors and the advisor to whom we are grateful. The group consisted of those who worked on the paper last year, and those who were registered in the journalism class for the year 1953- 54. At that time, Mr. Meltzer, this year ' s advisor was introduced, as well as the present Editor-in- Chief, Pete Kuehl. Since the only organized jour- nalism class was that of cub repor- ters, the paper was edited by vol- unteers who had also worked on the Carlmonitor in 1952-53. This year the Carlmonitor pub- lished fifteen issues.
