Miss Brubaker and Miss XVilhelm pause hourly be- tween classes to talk shop or maybe to gossip just a little. The l958 Dial pays tribute Allie i958 Dial staff wishes to pay tribute to Miss Blanche Mlilhelm and Miss Dora Brubaker. The scrviccs of these two ladies. not only as teachers but as advisers, have been unlimited to Community throughout the years. Classes from either bliss YVil- helm or Miss Brubaker are the best evidence of the exceptional qualities these two possess as teachers. Their classes, also an outlet for their personalities, are extremely enjoyable and interesting to students. Liter- ature and grammar become alive in the hands of bliss xxfllllfillll. Ancient Home is as vivid today as it was hundreds of years ago when bliss Brubaker enthisi- astically tells about its ancient culture. Extracurricular activities are greatly aided by the editorial and business sponsorship of the Dial by Miss YVilhelm and Miss Brubaker. The endless hours of correcting copy by Miss VVilhelm have provided better books for C.C.ll.S., while raising funds and cutting costs are automatic to an experienced business woman like Miss Brubaker. Aside from their helpful- ness in producing a yearbook, Miss YVilhelm and Miss Brubaker will long be remembered by Dial staff members as congenial chaperones and companions to parties and conventions. Because of their outstanding characters and abil- ities, Miss YVilhelm and Miss Brubaker are the type of people and teachers who yield only satisfactory results in all of their undertakings. For these reasons. the 1958 Dial staff pays tribute to Miss Blanche XVilhelm and Miss Dora Brubaker. SPORTS Spring, the sports season of variety lennis, .1 sport not played at C .C.l l.S. since lf?-ll was revised in 1956, .Xliter only one year of training and experienee the tennis team compiled a fix e and five reeord for the season. After two trial years under Coach Doe Russell and Capt. .lay Lrwelaee. tennis is taking its place in our spring sports program along with haselvall and traelt. Nlueh to Coach Reid Klar- tin's delight WST saw a line turnout ol' enthusiastic lmaselvall hopefuls, The team had an eight and six record lor the season, a very respeetahle reeord eonsidering the fact that their hatworli at the plate was helow average. Nlany of last years varsity squad members were non-gratluatesg therefore the eomlmining of those veteran players with our .layvee stars ol' '57 should produee a inightly elulx in 58. Carrying on with strong Terrier spirit. the traeli team pounded out a two and three reeord last season. Because of a three sport spring program. track had less man power than in previous years. Sinee the majority of the squad was made up of underelassinen, a number of letterinen will return in '58, and a winning season is expected. Community's racket squad is a vital part of our spring sports Connell, Coach Russell, Larry Johnson, Howard Hood, Arthur program. First row: Denny Hays, Jay Lovelace, Gerry Howe, Sobery. As Seniors, it's time to venture forth, hut thereis time for one backward glance. Since our first day here we have enjoyed heing a part of C.C.ll.S. VVhen we came to Community as Freshmen, we found things new and different, hut in our Sophomore year we hecame a part of our school. As juniors we were Prom minded and turned the old gym into a gay and festiye Carousel. As our last year comes to an end we can rememher how hard we'ye worlyed and what good times we'ye had. VVe'ye learned through experiences shared with each other, and made new friendships that we'll never forget. VVith pride, the class of '58 can look hack over four sue- ccssful YCHIS. Now we are ready to choose a new pathway of life. New opportunities appear and we find that we are on our own. For some, education is at an end, hut for many, college is in the shining future. BEFORE preparations and hard work ended in AFTER excitement of a first prize in the catagory of most beautiful float. Q 1.-5 ' 34 Silt... o ff-ef I ' I Pat Adams ll..-I -v. IDL 1C ILIII 4. 4. CQ. X. Top of the bottom and bottom of the top .. .the Juniors. juniors S 'lhat one word describes a year we'll never forget. The thrill of being upperelassmen, the junior play, all our money making projects and the biggest thrill of all - Prom, all of these combined to make this year memorable. In just three short years the juniors have become important figures in extra-curricular activities. XVC have many athletes, as was proven by the large num- ber of boys from the junior class who participated in the various sports. The different organizations were also well represented by juniors. Xlle are pleased with our scholastic average, too, and are very proud of the juniors who were elected to the National llonor Society. XVe have worked very hard to make our class an outstanding one, and we look forward to our senior year, hoping that it, too, will hold as many wonderful memories as our last three have. To the left: Junior Student Council representatives were Frank Taylor, Pam Gilbert and Bart Bridges, To the right: Preparations for the junior float brought lots of fun and lots of gab sessions. gas UV! Vile met many new friends and encountered new problems. There were a yariety of highlights through this year, one of which was our first day of high school, which we had anticipated for so long. Then there was initiation. which helped us to hecome hetter acquainted with the upperclassmen. Another highlight was 'AI Iomecoming Time with the snalye dance. the bonfire, the football game, our Hoat, and then our first big dance, one that will stand out in our memories of high school. The holiday season was a gay and festive time. Parties were mingled through this vacation with long nights of study for our first semester exams. The winter and spring sports were all assets in making this year a busy year. The thrill of heing freshmen has dimmed. hut we are looking forward to our next three years at C.C.lI.S.
