meet us in our casual hours at parties, dances, and our local liangouts The Sno-Ball dance high-lighted our Christmas season. The Carbondale Community High School students' social life was very active during the 1956-1957 school year. There were the usual highlights- Home- coming. the Sno-Ball dance. and Prom: these were the special events-cornplete with formals and corsages. The decorations were beautiful, especially to those students and faculty members who worked so hard pre- paring for these dances. The queen was crowned at midnight, the band played the last song of the eve- ning, and the dance ended, leaving with the students many happy memories. The week-end brought the informal gatherings and parties that were so much a part of extra-curricular activities. The big and little sister parties, club parties, supper parties, slumber parties, picnics, coke dates, square-dances, liayrides, after-the-play parties - all became part of the school life and held an active part in the students' schedules. If there was not a party on a Friday or Saturday night, the average student would be found at the main local hangout- teen-town. The blaring ol' the julie box could be heard for blocks-the stomping of the jitter-buggers feet grew louder and louder- the clanging of coke bottles could be heard above the popping of ping-pong balls. VVho will ever forget the good times we had during the year at the various social activities of C.C.II.S. Nlany Clubs, including the Dial stalf, had fall picincs. -lea-rv
