Longhorns Enjoy Q' 1 sl V V X The Magic Carpet Slide in Thompson Park is a favorite gathering place for students. Mixers were held after several home games. Various Interests Caprock students found several differ- ent ways to make use of their spare time. After 3:35, many students still had long athletic practices before them. Others had club meetings to attend. But most went home to relax and maybe watch television before starting in on hours of homework. Weekends were a welcome break from school routine. Such things as football games, basketball games, track meets, and dances were attended by most Caprock students. Sundays were filled with leisure- ly picnics and coke dates. Sunday nights were set aside for last minute assignments. 1 Seniors Jimmy Hansen and Jess Fleming go through the ritual required of all football players.

Assemblies Held During Homeroom Ricky Turner, iunior, listens intently as Minnie Pearl -carries on about the mighty Longhorns. Longhorns welcomed assemblies as they provided an escape from homeroom. Assemblies were held for many reasons. Pep rallies were held every Friday during football season. Freshmen pep rallies were held in the gym every Thursday morning during homeroom. Many special assemblies were held throughout the year. Among these were assemblies for election of class officers, a Christmas assem- bly, a fashion show for the girls, the Sadie Hawkins assembly, and the Senior Day skit.
