An ex- tremely wealthy woman who is handicapped over- hears plans on the telephone for her own murder and is left to await her inevitable fate. A comedy entitled Lifeguard is a satire about political corrup- tion. A state beach is patrolled by two lifeguards who are not able to swim! Shirley lackson's play about tradition and values entitled The Lottery is the clincher of the evening. First written in 1948, the play's ritualistic stoning of an innocent citizen shocks the audience. Q 1.
