The junior Varsity Basketball Team also had a tough season this year. Leaving their season with only two wins, however, the junior Varsity exhib- ited excellent timing and did an adequate all- around job. The main problem seemed to be the lack of height. Because of the jV's lack of height, the Comanches were rebounded in most of their games. The Comanches came in second place at their own Canyon junior Varsity Classic. They came in second after losing a super tough game to an excellent Servite team. The highlight game of the season was when the Comaches beat Tustin in the second round of league play. This crucial win knocked the Tillers out of a chance to win the junior Varsity Century League championship. The jV's did, however, win their first game of the season against the EI Mod- ena Vanguards, 43-27. Coy Glass was named most valuable player on the jV team. Sherm Donegan acted as captain, and David Alvarado was named Most Improved. Glen Veevert was given the Coach's Award for the Best Defensive Player of the year for the jV Comanche Basketball Team. 1. Glen Veevert displays excellent shooting. 5. One of the jV players creates a panic as Canyon ties up the score. 6. Dave Lewis, a fantastic jV player, exhibits outstanding blocking. 7. The jV team displayed great shooting as demon- strated by Coy Glass.
