Sophomore football coaches Steve Sabins and Loren Shumer exerted excellent coaching to the Comanche Sophomore football team. The '78 Comanche Sophomore team completed a well- played season and were provided with many valu- able new lessons for next year. Coach Sabins stated that, all of the boys exhibited a great amount of team effort throughout the entire season. The Sophomore team had an excellent defense and a triumphant offense. Tom Chadwell played an out- standing season as quarterback and was able to dis- play his fine passing abilities to many of the receiv- ers throughout many of the games. Canyon's junior Varsity team, under the direction of Lance Dinwiddie, also completed a successful season. The jV's had managed to supply excellent yardage statistics this year and moved the ball con- sistently in almost all of their games. Mike Rose- nthal completed a majority of his field goal at- tempts and Matt Lescault was able to display excellent blocking throughout the season. Curt Eddy and john Stephens played on the offensive team, and were almost always ready to make a first down when needed. The jV season was a very rough one and consisted of an even rougher and gifted team. Many of the jV players were called up to the Varsity team and played in many of the CIF playoff games. With so many talented and dedi- cated young men, many of the Sophomore and ju- nior Varsity players will probably be playing in a few more CIF playoff games next year. 1. Mike Rosenthal, the jV kicker, attempts another successful field goal, 2. The Sophomore defense makes an outstanding tackle in the last few minutes of play. 3. Curt Eddy applies power blocking to assist john Stephens in a touchdown attempt for the junior Varsity. 4. Another quality of the Sophomore team was their excellent running ability. 5.
