Every month an outstanding athlete was selected from the sophomore, junior, and senior classes and was honored as athlete of the month. The selection was based upon: ll sportsmanship, 21 his ability to work with others, 35 his effort and work in their sport, and 4l his overall ability. As well as having their pictures posted on the Quad bulletin board, these athletes were honored at a special luncheon sponsored each month by Pep club. Con- gratulations to the following students: Natalie Har- low-V. Field Hockey- February, lunior, second year Varsity, forward line player. Because of Natalie's outstanding forward line play, she was chosen as athlete of the month for February. She is a devoted team member. Marcia Mathews-V. Basketball- lan- uary: Senior Marcia Mathews has been a three-year starter in basketball. An All-CIF player last year, she has realized even greater potential this season. Mar- cia plays a fonfvard-guard position very aggressively and is all over the court on defense. Marcia does a superb job blocking shots, stealing the ball, and us- ing her height to the fullest, getting an average of 20 rebounds per game. Offensively, Marcia scores an average of 26 points per game. She has a nice soft from the outside and drives well to the inside as she can penetrate any defense. An all-around player and complete basketball star, Marcia fascinated the opposition and excited Canyon fans! Every month an outstanding student was se- lected from the sophomore, junior, and senior classes and was honored as Student of the Month.
