Our numbers are small but we are strong. Carla Edmonds 3 4 SACBE stands for Student Advisory Council to the Board of Education. This committee is the stu- dent body's direct line to the Board of Education. Its purpose is to voice the opinions of Canyon's students and the surrounding schools. The advisor of SACBE is Dr. Louie joseph, Canyon's first princi- pal. SACBE held its Second Annual Student Confab on Dec. 5, 1978, which was a success. ln addition, SACBE had a successful Volleyball tournament. The International Club, sponsored by Mrs. Pan- agotacos, is a combination of French and German students. The group is planning an international dinner and various cultural field trips. We had a chocolate Santa Claus sale during December and several bake sales. This year's Curriculm Committee, composed of five hard-working students, Committee Chairper- son Cheryl Masters, Arlene johnson, Greg Meader, Ted Williams and Steve McCamey handle all cur- ricular activities, with the help of their advisor Dr. jerry Uffelman and other staff administrators. They were able to conduct such affairs as: the college ca- reer fair which offered the chance to help the stu- dents in deciding their future careers. Other endeavors included the third annual spell- ing bee, student rights handbook, posting the honor roll and literary annual, composed of poems essays, short stories, and illustrations by students. 1. SACBE members include: Steve jenkins, Lisa Fritz, Lisa Car- twright, Board Rep. and Lori Davis. 4.
