Practice, Practice, Practice. That is the word that mem- bers of Canyon's Drama Club and Speech Team have en- graved on their minds. For, rigorous rehearsal is an inte- gral part of producing a top-notch play or speech. And, these performing organizations succeeded admirably. Under the direction of new advisor Ms. Alice Carroll, Canyon's Drama club brought new dimensions to drama. They began the year by presenting A Night of One Acts. This production included three stirring and thought-provoking plays: a thrilling murder mystery- Sorry, Wrong Number , a satirical political comedy- Lifeguards , and the ever-intriguing play- The Lottery. Surviving such dilemmas as phones that contin- ued to ring after being answered, seven pages of script accidentally skipped, and the destruction of a delicious cake twhoopsl, Ms. Carrolllj, the one-acts were a suc- cess that was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Later in the year, the wildly hilarious comedy Don't Drink The Water, was produced. The superb acting and brilliant direction made this show a hit that culminated a successful year. Canyon's Speech team also received a new advisor this year. With the assistance of Mr. Michael Bridges, the Fo- rensic Team used their oral abilities to the fullest capac- ity. ln fact, the first two tournaments of the season reaped 10 superior certificates and three trophies. The Speech Team went on to attend several other tourna- ments including the State Qualifying Tournament and the National Forensic League Qualifying event. Mr. Bridges and the team looked hopefully towards the State Tour- namet held in june as feasible goals to end a year of suc- cessful Forensic activity.
