EPEZEXGWUKBEXEDW With more and more students working in their spare time, Work Experience handled a record number of students. Under the leadership of Mr. Kent Moore, Work Experience found jobs for students and gave them school credit for their jobs. The Regional Occupations Program catered to students who hoped to find a job after they graduated or those who wanted to experience their chosen career before they planned their college major. Ms. Trish Ames directed the vari- ous programs which included construction, banking, and medical occupations. State Requirements chairman Mr. Harper Eph- rom battled over-crowded classes while at- tempting to send safe drivers onto the California highways. The first six weeks of the course were spent driving cars and working simulators with roving teachers who went on to teach at other high schools. The rest of the classtime was used for viewing films and taking notes on lectures. 1. K CB lillliil lilllltllmll H153 ln a world that seems to be getting smaller by the minute, a second language becomes very important for almost every career. fMs. Kiddel. For that reason, many students took French, German or Spanish, not only to meet college entrance requirements, but to learn about another culture and to someday carry on conversations with people from other countries. Many courses took field trips and all courses participated in a foreign language camp where English was strictly forbidden for two whole days. Stimulated by the goal of improving reading and applying reading skills to other areas, both educational and vocational, the Reading Department reached almost all levels of stu- dents. ln the Reading Lab with its special equipment, most students followed courses tailored to their individual needs and thereby moved at their own pace without pressure. By next year the Reading Department hopes to have a Reading for Survival class and in future years hopes to have a team reading system similar to the sophomore and junior history course studies. 'I.
