CDUJUJSSEE During the school year, Canyon's counselors worked hard to help students choose their ap- propriate courses. Counselors developed three- year plans with each student, while emphasizing career choices and post-high school education. Two of Canyon's six counselors, Ms. Mary Lou Keihler and Ms. Gayle Levine, arrived to accom- modate the enormous amount of new students. Ms. Kiehler was placed in charge of placement and vocations and Ms. Levine was given the job of orientation. Returning counselors Ms. Alice Huestis, the college counselor, Ms. Wilma Wit- tman in charge of scholarships and financial aid, Mr. Al Pfeiffer, career counselor, and Mr. Lloyd Robinette, head counselor, had to cope with the increased paperwork which was caused by the new attendance procedures. Mr. Robinette com- mented, We enjoy helping students with their personal adjustment problems. Student atten- dance was greatly improved, but the counselors had to face mountains of paperwork as a result. Counseling is a great occupation for those people who like working with other people. 1. These people were responsible for the clean campus, the preparation of cafeteria food, the dittos that Comanches received almost daily, and many other items that were too often taken for granted, yet it was their work that made Canyon an organized and efficient school. 1.
