EXDHDUUJDSSWWEWQJEXSS Dr. Donald Ingwerson, president of the school board, dealt with the responsibility of handling 41 schools in the Orange Unified School District. One of the major areas of concern was over- crowding, especially in the Canyon area. Other than overcrowding, there were no major prob- lems. Improvements were made in counseling levident at Canyon with two counselorsj, and the counselor-to-student ratio was one of the lowest in the state. The administration during the 77-78 school year had several goals. Mr. Richard Kirwan tried to carry out the new attendance procedure be- cause he feels attendance is extremely impor- tant. Mr. Tom Yim worked to improve commu- nication between parents, students, and faculty by personal interaction. Mr. lerry Uffleman pro- moted basic academics in spelling, vocabulary, and reading. He also attempted to bring more cultural events to Canyon which would have a more lasting value than live rock assemblies. Mr. Dick Behn promoted as much student in- volvement as possible and increased the amount of activities in order that more Comanches could become involved in their schools. Mr. Bill Schroeder tried to build friendly relations be- tween students and administrators and insured that everything ran smoothly. 1.
