--v- ,.4.....rf , r:',hU9' - t C , 4 PIIILIGHTIIIIIS Sixteen hard-working reporters enjoyed in- creased facilities when SMOKE SIGNALS moved in to share a room and advisor with the LEGEND staff. Every two or three weeks, the SMOKE SIG- NALS staff published a four to eight page paper under the direction of Editor-in-Chief Mark Haas. Advisor Ms. Pat Fairchild stressed basic journalistic style to her staff, but still allowed enough freedom for them to develop a style and philosophy of their own. Field trips were taken to L.A. Times and Orange City News to stimulate the staff and to help improve their reporting skills. Members of the staff also attended area and state journalism conferences as well as write-off competitions in the spring. Cries of l'm so confused and What are we gonna do? flooded the publications room where members of Canyon's LEGEND staff at- tempted to produce an impressive yearbook. Di- rected by Editor-in-Chief janis Ray, LEGEND staffers struggled to overcome the deadline blues while coping with apparent nervous break- downs. Such mental deficiencies led the class to depend upon their beloved Editor-in-Chief to unabounded extents, making completion of the bigger-than-ever yearbook a miracle. Also aided by their new advisor, Mrs. Fairchild, LEG- END photographers, and editors, writers worked hard the entire year to make Comanche pride evident in the fifth anniversary edition of the Legend. 1.
