G I'Al AUIIIIIN lil S The California Scholarship Federation served the student body of Canyon High in a variety of ways. First and foremost, it recognized and brought attention to those students who achieved academic excellence. This recognition was especially prominent during graduation, where CSF life members Q4 semesters of mem- bership or morej were given a special in- troduction and were entitled to wear the gold honor cord. The club also gave its members the opportunity to attend a variety of cultural events not normally encountered by a high school student. In addition, members had the opportunity to visit college campuses and re- ceive counseling as to possible college selec- tions. Finally, those members who excelled both academically and in school participation had the privilege of receiving special CSF scholarships to large number of universities and colleges. Again this year, outstanding students from Ca- nyon High participated in the Academic Decath- lon. The Decathlon held on November 19, en- compasses seven different academic areas and one super quiz, involving all schools in Orange County. The Orange County Department of Edu- cation hoped to give a deeper respect for knowl- edge and our education system through the event of the Decathlon, 1.
