STUDENT IEGISIIIIII The Associated Student Body Cabinet had more than its share of duties and responsibilities as its name implied Anytime a small group of people tries to represent a diversifxed large group of students such as Comanches, heavy duty work is required So to begin the school year the cabinet planned a mini leadership confer ence at the Flying B Ranch that prepared poten tial leaders for the 78 year ASB projects in cluded the Budget, Spirit Week Homecoming Accreditation Report a party for the Canyon Hills students and many other activities The two major events of the year were the winter lead ership retreat at Running Springs, and the ASB election convention Both these events were geared toward more student involvement and concern for the school emphasis was placed on doing instead of complaining Finding students concerns and relating them to the Board of Education was the difficult task of the Student Advisory Council Chairman Allen Bradley and Advisor Dr Louie joseph attempted to work on most Comanche s biggest gripe Ca nyons closed campus policy The SAC encoun tered many problems in its effort to make Ca nyon an open campus Other responsibilities of the Council included students rights issues and curriculum reports The highlight of the year was the first Student Cabinet Conference which pose of this meeting was to improve communi cation among schools and the meeting was quite successful in its innovative goal, this was the first time that full scale communication had ever occurred on this level 1 SAC Representatives Front Row Karen Carver Lisa Car twrlght Back Row Brian Mizuki Allen Bradley and Mlke Lucas 2 Commissioner of Curriculum Lynn Nakamoto dis cusses her duties with Meg Ward 3 Board of Education Rep resentative Allen Bradley briefs john Kamei Chairman of jus tice and Traci Norman Public Relations Person on the latest board meeting 4 President Rick Vanderknyff and Mike Kauf felt look over the minutes of the last ASB meeting 5 Marion Miller Commissioner of the Fine Arts and Sue Busse ques tion Kevin Kiene Commissioner of Clubs about the priorities of his job 6 Sophomore Class Treasurer Rob Morton Vice President Andi Anderson Commissioner of Pep Wendy Doty Secretary of Correspondence Debbie Moriarity and Recording Secretary Charlotte Bryon all listen intently to Mr Behn s announcements , - ' I I . , . . . . , .
