I I - IIEGINN N vt' Students were greeted at the beginning of the 1977 school year by the same registration pro- cess used previously. Most Comanche students felt that the system was above average or adequate, according to a survey taken con- cerning registration. Sophomores, juniors, and seniors were registered over a period of six days. Most students were disappointed not to be pho- tographed during registration as in previous years, but in all, students were pleased with the efficiency of the registration process. In reference to the 1977 Mini-Leadership Con- ference, jenny Thomlinson commented, lt got me really excited about starting school. The purpose of the conference was to encourage in- volvement in school activities. Seminars were taught concerning organization of clubs and also encouraged Comanche spirit. Everyone in atten- dance enjoyed the seminars, but the free time and class tug-a-war were appreciated even more so. Many changes caused bewildered looks on the faces of returning Comanches as they arrived at Canyon on opening day. One of the main changes noticeable was the increase in number of the student body. Halls seemed almost im- passable and long lunch and nutrition lines irri- tated hungry stu-dents. Temporary classrooms were installed to aid in solving the problem of overcrowding, but they were not problem-free, they were left without desks and chairs. By the second day of school, things began to fall back into their routine order as people adjusted to the changes. But, for many, school was not the same until they were issued their first tardies. 1. Tug-a-war was one of the many activities offered at the Mini-Leadership Conference. Mr. Behn gives the countdown and Senior Mike Lucas psyches himself up. 2. Eating lunch with old and new friends is part of the good side during the first week for Charissa Sanders and Diana Boehrer. ' 3. Gary Cantagallo asks, And what did you do over the sum- mer? 4. Many teachers, including Mr. Ray Dunne, became involved in registration procedures. ln the background john Radak double checks his schedule to make sure it's what he Wants. 5. Sue Fullmer enjoys seeing her friends again during registra- tion. 6. Cheerleaders took the spirit of Canyon with them to the Mini-Leadership Conference. These girls listen intently during one of the seminars. 20 'l 2 . . . ...-.i.....--4L..,L-9-3 Ei'...f'Q 5 -T - ' .. ev , , pp-v P, '- '.
