WRESTLI MACHI The 1977 78 season proved to be a building one for Comanche wrestling as they posted an 8 8 record third place league finish Preseason play saw them place second in both the Brea Tournament and Century Empire Tournament and third in the La Halora Take Down Tourney Beginning league play with success Canyon de feated Sonora and La Habra But injuries hurt the Comanche matmen in their next two meets with losses to Brea and El Dorado A win over Full erton followed by a loss to rival Valencia pre ceded a classic battle in the season finale against cross Canyon rival Esperanza Both teams had a 3 3 record with a third place berth in league as the prize. Starting slowly the Comanches came roaring back to rush the Aztecs 42-14. The Or- ange League Tournament at Brea saw five indi- vidual Comanche Wrestlers qualify for CIF. The highlight of the whole tournament followed the wrestling competition when the Orange League Coaches voted Ron Uyematsu Outstanding Wrestler of the Orange League. This performance with such a young squad showed the Comanches are a team to be reck- oned with in the Century League next year. 1.
