Doubling their team strength to 48 girls Canyons Track Team worked to equal or excel last year s CIF success. In the first practice meet the team traveled to In- dio to face Indio and Hemet who each lost to Canyon by one point in CIF competition last year. Canyon again proved superior by taking the meet: Canyon 51' Indio 48V1' Hemet 37V2. breaking the shotput record 40 194. Commended by coaches as outstanding were the following: Anita Bennets Lynda Berg ludy Steese and Kim Vollmer in distance' Val Linn Karen Paulson Andi Pernell Milliccnt Peterson and Quinetta Turner in sprints and hurdles: jackie Nelson Sue Foldenauer and Karen Paul- son in field events. 1. An interested teammate watches as Patty Parker and Cindy Fukahara keep a fast pace at the one-mile point. 2. Lisa Sala- zar and Mary Galvin show off T-shirts they earned for running 100 miles. 3. Stretching out before a race proves to be enjoy- able for Lori Rogers and jenny Kershaw. 4.
