The goal of Canyon's curriculum this year was to enrich Comanche students' learning experiences with the addition of courses. The most successful of these new classes were ones dealing with problems of every day life. A course in Economics enabled students to understand the problems they might face in their adult lives, just as the course in Family Living did. Here students learned about marriage and family life, as well as how to deal with the problems ac- companying them. These were not the only GJEJEJ 9 introduced at Canyon this year. Special honors courses were provided for accelera- ted students in the Math, History, and English Departments. The courses, known as Advanced Placement classes, allowed interested students to work at a pace more suitable to their needs, and enabled them to learn valuable information as prepara- tion for college. The most exciting addition to Canyon's curriculum was probably found in the area of Physical Education. PE classes were formed to make use of the new swimming pool and give students ex- perience in swimming, diving, and scuba techniques. All in all, there was an over- whelming response to each new addition to Canyon's curriculum. 1. Science classes add enjoyment to learning for Steve Terschan, as he works on a chemistry lab. 2. Kathleen Menke stays after class to catch up on a chemistry lab. 3. Canyon's new pool proved to be the most universal addition to the school's curriculum as new P.E. classes formed to put it to use. Here, students in scuba class enjoy the experience of learning in a liquid environ- ment. 4. Singers Tim Carey and Nancy Garber get mu- sically involved as Phil Berriman, Cindy Simpson, and Allen Bradley harmonize. 5. Learning to drive on a simulator produces a smile on the face of Pam Galvez during her Driver's Education class.
