The offense, led by Coach Dinwiddie, scored almost 100 points, while Coach Owens and his defensive unit gave up only one score all year. ln the opening game against Mayfair, the j.V.'s had an impressive 21-0 victory. Touchdowns were scored by Tony Velasco and Terri Glennon, and the defense, led by joe Rubino and Dave Sorenson at tackle, and linebackers Brian Clauss and Larry Gagnier, held the Monsoons scoreless. Traveling to Brea, the Comanches won a 12-6 victory. Their 12 points consisted of a safety, a field goal, and a touchdown by Gary Steward. Blocking was provided by Mark Short and Mike Van Wontergehm. In their game against Sonora, Canyon really unloaded the points in a game cut short because of injuries. The final score was 35- 0, with three interceptions made by Kurt Eddy, who ran it back 70 yards, Harry Yim, and Mark Cranmer, who returned the ball 60 yards for a touchdown. In the classic Canyon Mud Bowl , the Comanches defeated Brea 6-0. The game was scoreless going into the fourth quarter, and the only score came when Cranmer blocked a Wildcat punt and Chris Elliott fell on the ball in the end zone for a touchdown. It was one of the best games defensively. The final game was against the Fullerton Indians. Canyon scored 35 points against them with the help of Gary Stew- ard, Terri Glennon and Sophomore Brad Strahler. The season was a happy and productive one for the j.V.
