IB EW? UIQI UEIIIGB Canyon's first league opponent was the So- nora Raiders. The Comanches were able to beat Sonora and the coaches commented that Rob Deer had been a great help during that game, by catching many key passes. La Habra was the Comanches' next victim, falling 21 -10. Canyon's offense, led by Ted Beltran, ran all over the High- landers' defense. In the Brea game, the Com- anches came up short, but Mark McCluskey had played well both offensively and defensively. El Dorado and Fullerton defeated Canyon in the next two games, but the coaches felt that Marc Rueckert and Mike Monnahan had played ex- tremely well in both games. Then Valencia came to Kelly Stadium and was victimized by the hard rushing of Ken Deshano and tackling of joe Ru- bino and Dan Rich. Quarterback Mike Byars finds a receiver open downfielcl, 2.
