Caring was the key ingredient for maintaining an enjoyable environment. The Canyon High campus reflected this attitude in its neat appear- ance. Influenced by the massive construction projects near Canyon, various members of the student body worked on the landscape and other campus beautification projects. ln particu- lar is the Key Club. Members of this all-male ser- vice organization have culminated years of plan- ning with the actual landscaping of Canyon's schoolgrounds. lt is through the work of such concerned people as these, that Canyon's EEUU? IBIUIIU EKU may soon approach its fullest capacity for appre- ciation. However, students retrieving their own trash and avoiding paths through the lawns have not been common sights. So far, janitors have con- tributed to the clean-up campaign more than any others. lt seems sad that the only area in which many Comanche students lack pride is that of their surroundings, especially since envi- rons were the mainstay that Cuomanches once depended on. Perhaps, the underclassmen will begin some kind of program in which each stu- dent can actively participate. Hopefully, there will someday be a noticeable change in the atti- tudes of the students, accompanied by a better- ment of Canyon environs. ' 1. Bulldozers scar the hills of the Canyon in order to build houses in an area that once homed coyotes, squirrels, and hawks. 2. Comanche students sometimes travel on the Santa Ana Freeway, where crops are often seen being harvested nearby. 3. Key Club members Kent Dacus, Steve White, and Dan Buttrey beautify Canyon's campus by working diligently on a landscaping project. 4. Spectacular sunsets are often viewed from the hills above Canyon. 5. Construction begins on a hill directly overlooking Canyon High. ' Q: 15 M U Pl' i H H 'I I il' 'M' e if l
