CB ECDL? UEXUUQJUI Canyon's Math Department struggled to keep up with its students as more and more Com- anches began taking such advanced courses as ICM and Algebra II. To accommodate the in- crease, two teachers were added to the depart- ment, Mrs. Kathy Farrar and Mr. Tony Mason. Calculus was the department contribution to the advanced placement curriculum, students en- rolled in the course were encouraged to take a nationwide test that, if passed, would allow them to receive college credit. A new pool improved the already lengthy and diverse list of courses offered by the Physical Education Department. Many students took ad- vantage ofthe pool by taking the extremely pop- ular scuba class, which could certify students as divers. Team sports were stressed during the year to allow for a high student-to-teacher ratio so that some of the smaller courses could be con- tinued. Many courses taught exercises that could be used throughout a lifetime to stay physically fit. These included swimming, tennis and weigh- tlifting. 1. Mr. Chuck Wood, Boys' Physical Education 2.
