Determination and Dr1vc After a grueling school day, while students everywhere are going for blood in football practice, madly' hitting the books in the library, or just lazing around at home, mem- bers ofthe CDO golf team can be found out on the course patiently toning and sharpen- ing coordination and aiming skills. What's expected to come from all these hours of high concentration? l don't know of a team that doesn't go for State, said coach John Ruiz, and CDO, being number one, is no exception. High hopes were held for the team, whose top players were junior Jeff Ruiz, senior Bob DeWitt, senior Mark Shi- plone, junior Rex Cousins, and junior Mark Keller, and golf fans were not disappointed. One student commented, l'd like to see CDO go AAA because the competition is a little tougher. Pre-season predictions were that the team would go undefeated. One student said, We'll back our team all the way to the top. 92!Golf

Emotions in Action Of all sports, gymnastics was perhaps the most expressive. Every movement, gesture, and step perfectly displayed grace. Every gymnast had basic routines to master, but a certain amount of personal interpretation went into each move. You have to put a part of yourself into everything you do. In a performance, you have to fight your nerves and try not to just perform automatically, said one gymnast. Gymnastics can be con- sidered a sport that is only beautiful if it's spontaneous and carefree. Gymnastics is tough-it involves lots of physical and men- tal stress. We work out like football players, and we have to tone ourselves into near per- fect form. Yet gymnastics is not a jock sport. lt's an expression of personality, an art form. .
