Tears and rlumph Fun, excitement, and the thrill of all the competition, all summed up to memories of Powderpuff, a game never to be forgotten by seniors and juniors alike. lt was the first time the various groups of our class worked together to strive for a common goal, said senior Lynda Wales. The junior team put up a great fight against the seniors, but were defeated 32-O. The senior coaches were Jeff LeCompte, Craig Fisher, Phil Gruens- felder, Brian Nicola, Jeff Stauffer, Adam Watters, Glen and Greg Wyman, John Quin- nan, and Ed Weaver. The junior team was coached by Tim Anderson, Phil Wright, Mitch Maynard, John Stegmeyer, Randy Gast, Barry Antel, and Joe Navarro. Junior Julie Stauffer commented, After two hard weeks of practice, we fought a hard tough battle. The game was a good game, but that's all it was, a game. Tcnms Nets Victor in '79 Sometimes in the middle of a hot Tucson day, when I've been on the courts tor three hours straight and am still standing there hitting a ball over a net, I wonder if it's all worth it. Then when l'm standing there at the end ofa long match holding a trophy, all that practice seems like nothing at all, said one athlete as he expressed his feelings about tennis. CDO had an excellent boys tennis team, and were ranked highly among rival schools. All it takes to build mere tal- ent to outstanding skill is hard work, prac- tice, and dedication, said one team mem- ber. You just have to be dedicated to spend a good portion of your time watching a ball bounce around on a court. But it really is an enjoyable sport, and it certainly pays off when you finally reach victory, said one player. Victory for these athletes means doing their best and being proud of the results. i . 3 ,,,, 1 A . X 1 ' xx . .i.. A A . , it f 5 eq, ,V g 1 ,,,, A w .
