SENIOR CLASS HISTORY The Class of '30 defeated the Adversities by a large score. The game was hard fought, but the '30's outplayed their opponents throughout the whole game. The game started out with the largest class ever in the lineup. Everyone showed good form, but there were a few outstanding players. Pschirrer made the football team, while Carmack and Eddy played on the second basketball team. Dwayne Totten went out and won in declamation and John Morgan was alternate on the Debating Team. Time out was called several times, and after each vacation the '30's returned to the game with new vigor. The class showed its versatility by maintaining a high scholastic standard. Ar the end of the fIrst quarter, several players were removed on fouls. In this way the ranks were slightly thinned, but we still had an immense class. The Class of '30 was so glad to get back into the game at the beginning of the second quarter that each one played his very best. Stevenson, Conrad, and Fouts were all on the debating teams, and they did some good work. Eddy made the first basketball team, while Pschirrer and Carmack were valuable subs. Pschirrer, Brown, Johns, and Sepich went out for football in the fall. The Honor Roll was again liberally spattered with our names. After the half the Class went back into the game all puffed-up over being upper- classmen. A Class meeting was held early in the year to elect oflicers and to choose colors, a motto and a flower. The results of the election of oflicers were: President ......... ..... C ARL STEVENSON Secretary ............ GERALDINE HUNTER Vice-Prefix ' ..,. LEWIS PUTMAN Treasurer ,.,. ........., E LEANOR KING f- If- be The motto chose. If it can be done, we can do it. The flower chosen was the lily of the valley, and'-...- xolors were green and white. Six men went out for football: Carmack, Sepich, Johnson, Du Bois, Pschirrer, and Cardosi. When basketball season rolled around, Carmack, Eddy and Pschirrer appeared on the first team. Willard Fisher was chosen cheer-leader, and he made a good one. The big event of the year was the junior-Senior Prom. It was a huge success in every respect Evelyn Brignall, who won the local girls' vocal contest placed second in the County Meet. Chet Eddy won hrst in Boys' Tennis Singles, Phillips and Eddy won the Boys' Doubles, and Margaret Perkins was a Junior on the winning Girls' Doubles Team. The Pennant which is always a Junior publication was a live, peppy paper. John Morgan was chosen assistant editor of the Pennant, and Bruce Johnston was chosen assistant business manager. The third quarter ended with the Class of '30 steadily gaining on their opponents. The class started the last quarter with a bang. Sepich was elected captain of the foot- ball team, and about nine other Seniors went out for football. The new oflicers elected at the beginning of the year were: President ............. . .CARL STEVENSON Secretary ...., ..... M ARGARET GUSTINE Vice-Prexident ........ MARGARET PERKINS Treasurer .... . ............ WILLIS SHOOP The Class has loyally supported the Glee Clubs, Orchestra, and Band. John Morgan was editor of the Pennant the first half and Helen Fennell was editor the second half. Cher Eddy was chosen captain of the basketball team, and Harry Smith and Junior Car- mack were other Seniors on the first five. The Senior Boys' Burlesque was a success both dramatically and financially. Mr. Cordell and Mr. Coons refereed the game. '13 Q? . 1 me -l .ar . QQRQ M P me TN Page 24 H ,W l4
