1-es: use-s A----h g K' 'V SENIOR CLASS HISTORY We the Semor Class of 1931 entered C C H S in the fall of 1928 arrymg our roller skates m one hand and our Mxlky Ways m the other To our dlsrnay, a group of awe mspxrmg demrgods dxsgmsed under the name of Faculty ungraclously h1d our skates and dlsposed of our candy bars We were then passed m revlew before the Seniors who made sar castxc remarks about us saw that we never entered the burldmg bv the front door and then forgot us We were left to struggle along the best we could Our class was composed of students from both Wllson and Roose velt Of course we had always been consldered very mtelhgent ln these two jumor Hlghs and had done great thmgs there The Nmth grade at Roosevelt had gnven a play and wxth the proceeds had left a most suxt able glft to the school As soon as we had become accustomed to the noon day rushes and were bold enough to pass before Professor Beahm w1thout quwermg we began to show the upper classmen what we were made of From the flrst nn spxte of our handlcap of lookmg dumb we astounded our re vered teachers by our br1ll1ant remarks m class Though we were forced to s1t ln the back of the audltorlum we made ourselves heard all over the room Almost all of the glrls 1n our class Jomed G R and a few of the boys Joined H1 Y In both these organ1zat1ons our class worked hard and faithfully We were represented ln every l1ne of extra currlcular act1v1 t1es and lf there was a game or performance we supported It lovally Wxth Gordon Hodgm as presldent and M1ss Pearl Trueman as spon sor we wrapped the goal posts for the games wxth such sk11l and deco rated the assembly stage for class day wlth such taste that we were gwen the rlght to call ourselves Juruors As Junlors we were gomg every moment Our fxrst step was to elect Mlss Dorothy Qulne as sponsor and Leland Goodwm our pres1 dent Members of the class now began to take outstanding parts m all school actwxtxes juha McKee Anme Bergen Barbara Anthony and oy Dxckson were elected to the G R Cabmet and Davxd Butler became a H1 Y offlcer Durmg the last semester jumor students held the most lmportant posmons on the Skylme Flashes staff Barbara Anthony was the edxtor ln ch1ef and Eugene Saunders was busmess manager Several of the Jumors were made offxcers 1n the R O T C unlt and some were on the Debate teams In the Rhetorlcal contest joy Dxckson won the cup for Dramatxcs Our class play Captam ADple1ack a darmg and thnllmv pxrate adventure was a declded success and establlshed our class ln the minds of Canomtes as clever actors Those takxng the leads were Harrxett Shumway Joy Dxckson and Davld Butler Eugene Saunders the bus mess head of the class was the busmess manager of the play W 'V' 1 'X W Z mu -mfg? ix.
