BASKETBALL A - Since this is the first year of organized basketball that Canning has had for two years, we feel that the Coyotes have done quite Well. Our season opened and closed with determination, although the boys were able to win only one first-team game. Early in the season Lester Clark, a member of the first team, received a hand injury during practice, which kept him out the rest of the time. Three boys from the grades, Warren Melvin, Clayton Mosteller, and Dale Pease, joined the high school athletic group, making it possible to have both a first and second team., The boys gained a great deal of experience and realized the true value of sportsmanship. They knew that these counted more than the score. Everyone feels that basketball' was an asset to the school, and that Mrs. Korkovv, the only lady coach in the state, did a fine job. She was assisted by her husband, Mr. Ervin Korkow, who es- pecially helped at the games. They will be better prepared to fill places on the first team. The second team was a little luckier than the first, for it lost only three games during the Whole season.
