Y Y..f. - - ivwv- SOPHOMORE CLASS HISTORY Here today and gone tomorrow seems to have been the slogan of the Sophomore class, when and if we had one. The class got off to a good start in 1944 when Elizabeth Irving, Robert Korkow, and Robert Richards enrolled as Freshmen in September. One month later, Elizabeth was the sole member. Robert Korkow had transferred to Laramie, Wyo- ming. and Robert Richards had decided to quitfschool. At the beginning of the school year in 1945, the Sophomore class consisted of two boys, Lester Clark and Robert Korkowg Elizabeth Irving had enrolled at Blunt. In October when the Otto Korkows moved to Wyioming, Robert returned to the Laramie school. After the first semester, Lester Clark had sufficient credits to classify him as a Junior. All during the second semester, there has been no Sophomore class. A class that doesn't exist can't make much history, so here is the End. . FRESHMAN CLASS HISTORY , On September 10, 1945, six Freshmen walked up the gangplank to the ship of the Canning High School. Everyone thought he was filled to capacity with knowl- edge, enthusiasm and ambition. Several days wert by before the election of class officers. Mrs. Green was made captain of the deckg Lois Aby, officer of the deck fpresidentlg Roland Kleinschmidt, officer of arms Cvice-presidentlg Beverly'Fry, officer of guard Csecretary-treasurerl. Other passengers were: Duane Doyle, ,L L-eRoy Nye, and 1aVerne Nye. The mates on second deck had the pleasure of initiating us. Though all of the mates tried hard to get on the Honor Roll each period of the first semester, only one, Beverly Fry, made it. Roland Kleinschmidt suc- ceeded in reaching the Honor Roll once. Both of the other periods he was on the Honorable Mention, along with Lois Aby, who was on each period. During the year we enjoyed the basketball games, parties, a banquet, and a skip day. The two girls, Lois Aby and Beverly Fry, received the distinction of being chosen cheer leaders for the games, One of the mates, Laverne Nye played on the first basketball team, his twin brother, LeRoy, replaced one of the first team men later in the season. During the second semester one member of the crew, Roland Klein- schmidt, dropped through the Canning port hole but was safely rescued by Harrold. Finally, after nine months of dangerous and exciting voyages, the rest of us left the ship for three months of much longed-for rest. o
