' i' 'TI' i ' JUNIOR CLASS HISTORY ' September, 1943 found us ready to begin a long trip via airplane through a country called High School. We were a merry group of travelers, indeed. t Our first visit was to the Freshman state. After overcoming initiation, the first storm, which almost wrecked our plane, we continued on our journey. The A crew and passengers consisted of Elden Nye, Marvin Fry, Lerta Mosteller, Elaine Wine, and Ruth Shoemaker. Along with the bad things were a few good ones such as parties and dances to make our ship sail smoothly. We had to stop for fuel. This pleasant land, it was decided, was a fine place to spend vacation. During the summer one of our passengers. Lerta Mosteller, was lost. The following September, 1944, we started on a nine months' tour through the Sophomore state. Members elected for the crew were: Helen Kitchen, pilot, Marvin Fry, navigator, Elaine Wine, mechanic, Kathryn Irving, Elden Nye, and Ruth Shoemaker were the passengers. In January we picked up Robert Klein- schmidt and in February Ierta Mosteller returned. During the early part of May the pilot landed the plane long enough to have a picnic. That revived the crew suf- ficiently to enable them to finish the second lap. ' After a needed rest of three months in which our plane was repaired, we started through the state, Junior, in 1945. Soon it was discovered that Kathryn Irving had enrolled at Blunt, Lerta Mosteller Hopkins at Cloverdale, Oregon and Helen Kitchen and Elaine Wine at Pierre. We reorganized our crew and elected Marvin Fry, pilot, Robert Kleinschmidt, navigator, Ruth Shoemaker, mechanic. The passenger was Elden Nye. To help pass the time away, occasional stops were made to let the boys play basketball. The Iunior-Senior girls enjoyed selling lunch after the games. For every victory, the boys were promised a free lunch. CWe didn't give many free lunchesli ,. ' Each six weeks of the first semester Ruth Shoemaker was on the Honorable Mention. At the beginning of the second semester, Lester Clark became a passenger In March Robert Kleinschmidt joined the recruits of the airplane, Harrold, After reaching the city of Junior-Senior Play, and discovering we were quaran- tined, we remained until we had dusted off our acting talents in Youth Comes Tripping. Following our shut-in days, we had a skip day and banquet. Then during a severe storm the plane crashed near the city, Senior, I 4

Y Y..f. - - ivwv- SOPHOMORE CLASS HISTORY Here today and gone tomorrow seems to have been the slogan of the Sophomore class, when and if we had one. The class got off to a good start in 1944 when Elizabeth Irving, Robert Korkow, and Robert Richards enrolled as Freshmen in September. One month later, Elizabeth was the sole member. Robert Korkow had transferred to Laramie, Wyo- ming. and Robert Richards had decided to quitfschool. At the beginning of the school year in 1945, the Sophomore class consisted of two boys, Lester Clark and Robert Korkowg Elizabeth Irving had enrolled at Blunt. In October when the Otto Korkows moved to Wyioming, Robert returned to the Laramie school. After the first semester, Lester Clark had sufficient credits to classify him as a Junior. All during the second semester, there has been no Sophomore class. A class that doesn't exist can't make much history, so here is the End. . FRESHMAN CLASS HISTORY , On September 10, 1945, six Freshmen walked up the gangplank to the ship of the Canning High School. Everyone thought he was filled to capacity with knowl- edge, enthusiasm and ambition. Several days wert by before the election of class officers. Mrs. Green was made captain of the deckg Lois Aby, officer of the deck fpresidentlg Roland Kleinschmidt, officer of arms Cvice-presidentlg Beverly'Fry, officer of guard Csecretary-treasurerl. Other passengers were: Duane Doyle, ,L L-eRoy Nye, and 1aVerne Nye. The mates on second deck had the pleasure of initiating us. Though all of the mates tried hard to get on the Honor Roll each period of the first semester, only one, Beverly Fry, made it. Roland Kleinschmidt suc- ceeded in reaching the Honor Roll once. Both of the other periods he was on the Honorable Mention, along with Lois Aby, who was on each period. During the year we enjoyed the basketball games, parties, a banquet, and a skip day. The two girls, Lois Aby and Beverly Fry, received the distinction of being chosen cheer leaders for the games, One of the mates, Laverne Nye played on the first basketball team, his twin brother, LeRoy, replaced one of the first team men later in the season. During the second semester one member of the crew, Roland Klein- schmidt, dropped through the Canning port hole but was safely rescued by Harrold. Finally, after nine months of dangerous and exciting voyages, the rest of us left the ship for three months of much longed-for rest. o
