XYI1A'I'lll-ZRS The klunior Glass started the year by electing, in addition to the officers listed above, Aleanne Scallon as Girls' Athletic Manager and Bob Iiink as Boys' Athletic Manager. Lenore Myers was chosen as Song Queen and Jean Mclleynolds and Barbara Pitts were chosen as the yell leaders. The first activity of the year was the annual junior-Senior skate, sponsored by the juniors at the Oaks skating rink in Portland. Everyone had a very enjoyable evening. The high light of the year was the junior Play, The Black Flamingo. This play, a mystery, was a great dramatic achievement. This was partially because it was very dif- ferent from any of the plays which have been given for a number of years. The excellent direction of Miss Burgess and the fine cooperation of a brilliant cast caused the klunior play to make dramatic history. The .Iuniors were very well represented on the various Varsity squads. juniors making their letter on the Varsity football squad were Ed Miles. next year's football cap- tain, Glenn Cuddeback, Don Thompson. George Green. Bob lfisher. Charles Carlson, -lack Burden, and Harry liarthing. Basketball letters were made by Glenn Cuddeback, Don Thompson, and jack Burden. -lack Burden and lid Miles made an excellent showing in the state wrestling meet, and also won letters in wrestling. The -Iuniors made a good record in track and cross country, and the -Iunior debate team placed the class second in inter-class rivalry in debate. Most of the Cougar staff members were juniors. and did a very creditable job on this publication. The last event of the year for the -Iuniors was the junior-Senior picnic at jantlen Beach, which put a very successful climax to the year's Lvents. F121
