: 0 4 M , .--.- 9f f ' llliQf.22s? ' - The following week, Edgemont came to Gillette for their first game with the Camels. They were about our size and since this was the hrst chance we had had to play against a team any where near our own weight, we took advantage of it. The game was played in a sea of mud, but it was lucky mud, and Gillette won l3 to O. This was Edgemont's hrst year in football, but they put up a good game. Our Hist touchdown came when Christy intercepted a lateral pass and raced unmolested for a touchdown. The second touchdown came as the result of an end run by Christy. Both goals after touchdown were made by passes to Campbell, but on the last he didn't have both chains on and skidded over the end zone so the point didn't count. Next, we left home to tackle the Buffalo Bisons on their own field. We tackled, but not enough, for the Thundering Herd got away for enough touchdowns to win 33 to 0. The least said about this game the better. Our last and hardest-fought game was with Midwest here. The game was mostly played in mid-Held and was characterized by the rough playing of the Midwest team, two of its players being put out of the game for slugging. Midwest scored in the second quarter, but were off-side on the play so the score was not allowed. lt looked as the the game was to end in a scoreless tie, but with about a minute and a half to play, Freer threw a long pass to Christy who raced over the goal line for the only score of the game which ended 6 to O in our favor. R. C. The Coach Says: Given played at center every minute of every game and made but one bad pass. Freer was an excellent safety man, being a fast runner and a sure tackler. The passing combination of Freer, Christy, and Campbell was one of the best one will ever find in any high school. Hicks, Mapel, and Moore held down the end scores this year. Moore, though the lightest, is perhaps one of the best tackles found in this corner of the state. Very few plays ever went under Bury, although some may have gone over him. Maycock was a fast man as a guard. Lane at tackle didn't let many plays get through center and Sharkey and Moore in the other tackle position stopped many long gains through the line. Twelve men will be back again next year. Look out Buffalo, Sheridan, and Sundance! Page Thirty-Iwo N- J LF if

Although Rozet annexed the Hrst score of the evening, the Camels were able to bring home a favorable score of 18-10. The Rozet High School gymnasium has been enlarged and greatly improved over the structure of former years, Then came Christmas. All the boys were given permission ac- cording to Coach Fitch-to eat everything in sight. lt is believed that they took advantage of the week's rest from training. The week-end following Christmas, the Sundance Bulldogs stopped off for a game with the Camels. The Bulldogs played a classy brand of basketball, and that, coupled with the fact that they out-reached the local boys by at least a foot, made it possible for them to nose out an easy victory to the tune of 25-6. The Camels had plenty of fight, and held the Bullodgs to a Z-2 score during the hrst half but from then on it was the Sundance boy's game. Long hours of practice, scrimmage with the town team, living up to training rules, and generally learning what the hoop game was all about, filled the next week. The work was not without its reward, and Friday night saw a victory of 25-15 for the Camels over the Timber Wolves from Moorcroft. During this game Coach Fitch gave some ex- perience to the baby Camels. The next week-end the Camels led the attack against the Moorcroft team on their home floor. The floor was smaller than the floor at home but the Camels reared around for a few minutes then started to work, with the result that another score was taken in for the Camels. B The Newcastle game on the local floor packed the gym. The game was fast and close, resulting in a tied score. During the extra period the Camels dropped in a couple of baskets, clinching the victory. Score 19-23. The most memorable event of the evening was Pete's long shot from the middle of the floor. Before long the Buffalo Bison came down to the Camel's feeding grounds. Christy's long shots, and the improvement Coach had given the team was responsible for the Camel's victory of 21-16.
