Since there are so few ways of thanking a teacher for all he has done for Cameron School, the annual staff takes great pride in their dedication. The staff has chosen someone that they feel is the embodiment of those qualities which students admire and seek to develop in themselves. It is with great appreciation that we dedicate the 1967 Campus Echoes to our superintendent, Mr. J. P. Dufford. FACULTY ADMINISTRATION AIDS STUDENTS MR. J. P. DUFFORD Superintendent General Math MR. Under the superb coach- ing of Mr. Charlie Rucker, the Colts were winners of the West- ern 4C Conference. Starting the season with a 7-6 victory over Cross, the Colts went on to defeat Norway by a thrilling score of 14-13. In the next game they were defeated by Bluffton, but regained their strength to whip the St. Angela Saints 19-0. The following week the Colts were held to a 6-6 tte by the Branchville Yellow Jackets. A Football ballet! Catch me if you can! The supposedly strongest con- ference opponent, the Edisto Blue Devils, were defeated 7-0. David Zeigler intercepted a pass and ran twenty-two yards for a touchdown. The Colts were defeated by the defending Class C State Champions, but the Colts stomped Hardecville 45-19 in the Homecoming game. The game against Bowman was another victory for the Colts. +??+ ? Sony shoes! The final scheduled game against Springfield was an excit- ing game for the spectators. Dur- ing the last twenty seconds of the game, Wendel Scott passed the football to Hayne Haigler in the end zone. With this victory, the mighty Colts were able to win the Western 4C Conference. Although they were defeated by Heath Springs in the play-off, the team should be commended for their fine performance through- out the season. MIDGETS Get mean big team! At the close of the year, they held the annual Student Council elections for the forthcoming year. The Student Council has worked eagerly this year and has done a fine job. Their accomplishments have been worthwhile to the students of Cameron High School. 45 1967 CAMPUS ECHOES STAFF EDITOR Gail Vosburgh ASSISTANT Susan Jackson BUSINESS MANAGER Cathy Craig ASSISTANT Dot Johnson The staff takes time out for a pose. From the time the new Campus Echoes staff is chosen until the last deadline is met, the annual staff is busy getting ads, typing copy, taking pictures, deciding on layout, and receiving the approval of our advisor. Months of plan- ning and work before hand are necessary for the success of the yearbook. It's our sincere desire to cap- ture indelible memories of our life at CHS. If you, the students, approve of our efforts, we shall consider this publication worth- while. 46 Gail and Susan ADVISOR Mrs. Whetstone PHOTOGRAPHERS Cindy Arant and Bertha S. They are given the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of cooking and sewing. Many committees are responsible for the different projects during the year. Some of the more important ones are the scrapbook, yearbook and program commit- tees. Wesley does it again! The FFA is an organization for rural farm boys to promote the understanding of agriculture. It provides an opportunity for boys to learn better methods for a profitable occupation. This year, different members of the chapter participated in several projects, including cattle, crop farming, and svvine. All have proved prof- itable to some degree, yielding valuable experience as well as some monetary profits to the members. Thus, FFA has molded young men into great farmers by educa- tion of youth. 49 BLOCK C CLUB FIRST ROW: Dot Johnson, Jeanette Houck, Becky Mischler, Diane Troutman, Gail Vosburgh, Kathy Judy, Coach Rucker, advisor. The main purpose of the French Club is to help the members enjoyably learn more about the country of France, its customs, people, and their way of life. The club enjoyed various activities during the year. At one of the first meetings Miss Nonie Smith, well- versed on the French language and on the country of France, spoke to the members.
