Liz Smith, David Hook receive honor. he Shield Royalty goes to a senior boy and girl who have contributed a great deal to the school, but who have not brought formal rec- ognition to themselves. This year the Shield Staff elected David Hook and Liz Smith as the 1979-80 Shield King and Queen. Liz Smith grew up in Illinois and moved to Phoenix at the end of her sophomore year. Liz was very active at her former high school, St. Charles, and immediately became involved here at Camelback. During her junior year at Camelback she was active in the band, Concert Choir and was a member of the softball team. She also belonged to the Christian Club, TARS and lu- nior Class Council. Her senior activites included band, Senior Class Council and be- ing a student senator. Aside from all this, Liz managed to hold a part time job at Bashas and was a volunteer at the Deaf Center. David Hook was born and raised in Phoenix. He attended Squaw Peak and Christ Lutheran grade schools. One of David's most outstanding accomplishments was receiv- ing the male lead in the fall drama production Sta Door. David was a member National Honor Society, Spa ish National Honor Socie and ranked in the upper 5 of his graduating class. even with maintaining such outstanding academic reco David was also active in ma organizations including t following: Ecneics, Bridge a Christian Clubs, Conc Choir, student senate and w also on the swim team.
