lingswood was Camden's next victim and the rain really saved them from a worse beating than they took. Alter this 22-O vic- tory coach Billy Palese's boys passed their milestone to the championship by routing Atlantic City 13-U. Camden Catholic and Woodrow Wilson suffered a worse tate than anyone, getting thrashed 57-O and 52-U, re- spectively, The victory over Woodrow Wil- son gained for 'the Purple and Gold the South Iersey Group IV Championship. In a post season tilt Camden concluded one ot its most successful years in its history by pounding out a 9-6 win over New Brunswick tor the mythical state championship. To pick any star players is hard, but Co- Captains Wally Bubien and sure-tooted Al Vogt, who kicked the field goal that beat New Brunswickg Matty Siedlicki, Ray Ksia- zek, Sid Wenot, Reds Sgariglio, Abe Savit- sky and Ed Shuda is anybody's all-American line. Working behind this line were Apples Litwa, Rabbit Glemser, Rags Ragone and Duck-toot Weber. There are many other boys who really put their hearts in making this a very great year tor the coaches and Camden High. Members ot this year's championship team who gained all-star honors are: Glemser, Vogt, Siedlicki, Bubien, Ksiazek, and Shuda. Litwa was chosen as a member ot the All- State team. We added to our trophy case the South lersey Group IV Championship and the Group IV Conference Championship trophies. RICHARD URBAN Left to right-lst row: Glemser, Litwa, Feldman, R. This latter distinction was shared with Haddon Heights High School. c wh Acfnold Protea nag er Xggiycllff tones Three letter men, Captain Claude Robin- son, halfback, Iohn Winslow, center forward, and Goalie Herbert Vitt formed the nucleus of this year's squad with the balance coming up from last year's scrappy junior varsity squad. Only one member of the first team will be lost through graduation. That player is Ioseph Asbell, hard-hitting fullback. This bodes well for next year's success. The season opened with Camden playing host to Woodrow Wilson. After playing on even terms for the greater portion of the game, the Camden High booters came through by the score of 8 to l. The next op- ponent was Haddon Heights. This contest ended in a l-l deadlock. Again Wilson was encountered and again Camden was victor- ious, this time by a 2-l score. The final game of the season was a scoreless tie with Had- don Heights. This Was one of the longest games ever played in local scholastic soccer, going into three overtime periods. At the end the score was still U-U. Captain Robinson, Winslow, and Vitt were this year's letter men. Iohn Webster was an outstanding player on the junior varsity squad. Mr. Louis Feinstein acted as assistant coach.
