This excerpt from the Declaration of Independence reveals some of the principles upon which our country was and is founded. Simple axiomatic principles yes yct tl and ha 1 ' , .- ' ie opportunities tpmess of a people rest upon them, You may think we have little prosperity, opportunity, and happiness, but compare these with those of other countries, and just see if a new light isn't shed on the subject. It has often been said that America's future lies in its youth. Each one of us, no matter how insignihcant we may seem, will have a part in the United States of the future. A great thing is usually a complexity of many smaller, humblcr things. XVe are the huntbler things upon which is the duty of maintaining a great thingithis land of ours. All of us cannot do great deeds to fulhll this duty, but plain, ordinary, righteous living is a great deed in itself. Our democracy rests on a faith prupounded by our fore- fathers, Will the rising generations who shall constitute the America of tomorrow uphold anti preserve that faith? Democ- racy lies in the balance. Atrium Kozax President of the june, 19-I0 Class.
