VVE ARE AWESOME! ! The CHS choir has en- joyed much success this year, and took 'We are Awesome' as it's theme slo- gan. On Nov. ll, the A Capel- la Choir, Madrigals, Chora- liers, and Troubadors parti- cipated in the annual OBU Invitational Choral Festival. All groups from Camden received top rating, with the choir winning the Best In Class trophy in the small ensemble division. The following week the same groups took part in the Central Region Invita- tional Choral Festival. No best in class trophies were awarded, but each group from CHS received a lst division, the highest possible rating given. f Q WE si TlLJi3OP?ft Ol? g E itt tlilp E W The choir had many slogans throughout the year but 'We Are Awesome was the favorite. Many cboir students showed their support for the choir, by making signs for the choir room. One of the signs displayed the choir slogan. The choir attended several contests during the year. Their first contest was at O.B.U. Y Choir ofjqcers display some of the awards the choir has won this year The officers all have important jobs in the choir.

The students of- ten refer to him as HPR-,, CHOIR GETS NEW DIRECTOR The choir is under the di- rection of a new director, Mr. Philip Rogers. Mr. Rogers came to the choir from Cabot Arkansas, where he was the choral di- rector. Mr. Rogers has been tea- ching for 6 years and is ac- tively involved in church work. He is a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, the American Choral Directors Association, in which he is the senior high school sec- tion chairman. 'It is his desire that CHS will remain one of the top choirs in the state, as it has been for the past 30 years, he said. Some sfudents find activity period a good time to go over music. Angie Brown and Laura Bailey are among the accompianists for the choir. The Madr-:gals performed for many clubs and banquets throughout the year. Their first perform- ance was at Open House.
