The girls both played hard. The team ended the sea- son with a 13-8 record, which puts them in first place in the 7AAA Con- ference. Coach Thames could only remark We did it! as she saw the end of the season. She was enthusi- astic when the season be- gan and more than expect- ed its outcome. ' Panthers Plan To Rebzzzla' The 82-83 basketball season proved to be a sub- par season for Coach Hicks, but he said it was one of the most enjoyable ones for him. It's always fun to work with quality Coaches and a group of quality sopho- mores like we had this year, Hicks said. The team had a fairly good start winning seven of the first ten games. However, after juan Hayes was injured in jan- uary, the team suffered a series of losses. When Hayes returned in Februaly, the team finish- ed fourth in the confer- ence. The 15 players who fi- nished the season should be commended for going through a year where they were pushed every single day and stayed with it, the Coach said. Most of the team leader- ship came from senior Edward Williams, whou, fi- nished the season as the leading scorer and re- bounder. Williams was named to the All-District team.
