The River Ray? races were one highlight of the of the summer SUMM ER FUN!! After the long, drawn out school year, summer was a welcome break to everyone. While some students chose to work at summer jobs, others chose a life of lei- sure. Sleeping late was one groove nobody had trouble getting back into. Everyone went their separate ways and did their own thing. Different people chose dif- ferent ways to spend their time, while some of us just did the same old thing every day. 1 jeep riding' proved to be a very popular activity a- mong students this sum- mer. Not only was it a fun way to get where you were going, it was also an easy way to cool off. Many of Camden High's students were seen in jeeps having a good time. Swimming has always been a favorite past time in the summer and everyone seemed to take advantage of the sun and water at one time or another. If a pool wasn't handy, just laying in the sun and cooling off in the sprinkler seemed to work just as well. If being in the hot sun wasn't your thing, then staying inside and watching soap operas was usually the thing to do. All My Child- ren, General Hospital, and One Life to Live seemed to be the favorites of everyone. The 2nd Annual Ouachita River Raft Race was the major attraction for Ouachi- ta County residents. There were many entries, as well as something to do for those who just wanted to come for the fun of it. Food, music, games- and fun activities were all in- cluded this year. The raft race was a big hit. Even if you didn't win anything, most people had fun just being there. just about everyone went on a vacation at one time or another. Many attended the World's Fair in Knoxville, Tennessee. Some were seen practicing for motorcross events that were held in Pine Bluff and El Dorado. What ever you did, sum- mertime was a fun-filled and busy time for everyone. By the time school was ready to begin, just about everyone was ready to start cracking the books and set- tle in for another year of school activities and fun.

flrs. Wiley is shown directing the stage rew in preparing for an assembly. A WELCOME BREAK .... ASSEMBLIES Assemblies at Camden High School are a great way to relax and ease the ten- sion of the day for school work. Assemblies were also a way for students to find out what was going on in school that they did not know a- bout. Assemblies were a lot of fun and there were many different types of assem- blies so people did not get tired of them. The students seemed to emoy the Pep Rally assem- blies the best because it gave all the students at Camden High School the chance to participate and to let themselves go for a change and get to scream and holler for the football players and for their own class. The students also have a lot of fun painting signs at some lucky person's house for Friday's Pep rally. The classes enjoyed the fun competition of buying spirit chain links for the most spirited class for the Pep rallies. Another fun assembly the students liked a lot was the Teacher Talent assembly. This assembly gave the stu- dents an excuse to make fun of the teachers openly and not have to worry about going to detention hall and the teachers loved the chance to get up on stage for a change, and do their own thing instead of like always, watching everyone else up on stage having a good time entertaining us at CHS. Lesa Kzkiu' and Wren Clark gave a help ing hand during the Teacher Talent as t. sembly.
