Senior Class History When we entered the portals of the Camden-Frontier school as Freshmen in 1949, little did the teachers realize what trials and tributes we would give them. Our able president was Jerry Salisbury, and his co-workers were: Bob Kizer, Bruce Bunce, and Richard Atkins. Other members of the class, who always lent a willing hand were: Betty Adams, Mary Barrett, Gladys Barnes, Shirley Britton, Irene Broughman, Bob Chamberlain Evadne Cook, Jerry Crites, Pat Copeland, John Daglow, Darlene Drushal, Tom Frantom, Rovelle Gratz, Clive Guise, Jim Hayes, Reva Havens, Phyllis Hopkins, Bernard Hukill, Kathryn Jagger, Shirley Jenkins, Faye Johnston, Robert Kizer, Onalee Kirkinburg,Dewayne Kope, lla Mann, Joe Mapes, Sandra Millard, Leota Moyer, Mike Pearce, Rosemary Rada- baugh, Norman Rubel, Marilyn Seely, Betty Schuster, Wallace Shiffler, Alice Smith, Mildred Stalhood, and David Stenger, Our class advisor, Mr. Reynolds, saw us success- fully through our Freshman year. We voted Faye Johnston and Bob Chamberlain as our Athletic representatives. Our class was very well represented at the school carnival with Bob Kizer as King and Mary Barrett as Queen. We chose our class motto, On the Highway to Success, our class flower, a red rose, and our class colors, which are green and white. At the beginning of our Sophomore year we had 36 members, losing Shirley Britton, Bob Chamberlain, David Stenger, Betty Adams, Darlene Drushal, and Norman Rubel, who was ill much of the time during our Freshman year. We welcomed two additions to our class: John Kimmel, from Hillsdale, and Anna Mae Little from Reading. Bill Hovarter also entered our class but moved during the year. This year our advisor was Mrs. Thelma Hemphill, who had as her workers: Richard Atkins, Bruce Bunce, Jerry Crites, fwho left later in the year and Evadne Cook took over his dutiesl and Pat Copeland. Evadne Cook was our Carnival Queen and Mary Barrett joined her as queen for the Beauty Contest. We had several skates and bake sales which added to our treasury. We began our Junior year with the following officers: Bruce Bunce, Bob Kizer, Richard Atkins, Wallace Shiffler. Again we lost some of our members: Gladys Barnes, Clive Guise, Reva Havens, Bernard Hukill, John Kimmel, Alice Smith, and Mildred Stalhood left school: Bob Kizer went to Arizona. We gained Bill Berry from Waldron, Helen Brow from Jonesville, and Dan Pichea from Reading. Olin Armstrong, Marjorie Hall, Don Donahue, and Leon Boone also joined our group, but later moved away. We had 34 members but it decreased to 29, Onalee Kirkingburg was selected Carnival Queen and won. Evadne Cook was selected Queen for the Hillsdale County Fair. Mrs. Marian Bates, our capable advisor, directed our Junior Play which was a huge success, adding much to our bank account. We entertained the Seniors at a Junior-Senior Banquet at Potawatomi Inn, Pokagon State Park, Indiana. With the beginning of our Senior year we welcomed Anita Gostola and Deloris Teachout from Montgomery and June McAllister from Haviland, Ohio. We sadly watched five more members leave: Evadne Cook, Anna Mae Little, Mike Pearce, and Dewayne Kope. Rovelle Gratz left us at the beginning of the second semester. Officers for this year were: Mary Barrett, Bruce Bunce, Kathryn Jagger, and Bill Berry. When Bill left us to go to Waldron, Richard Atkins took over his duties. Mrs. Bates again is ad- visor of our class, which now consists of Z4 ladies and gentlemen. We took part in and sponsored many activities, including dances, skates, publishing the School Paper and Annual, Pie Plant Pete, and a thrilling Donkey Basketball game. Anita Gostola was chosen Carnival Queen. Mary Barrett was D. A. R. girl. We presented the play, No Place to Park. We were guests of the Juniors for our annual Junior-Senior Banquet, May 8. We enjoyed a lovely time on our trip through Shenandoah National Park, and Washington, doing something exciting every moment. We left Toledo Monday evening on the train and went to Charlottesville, Virginia, then took a bus to Washington where we spent three days,lseeing many interesting sights. We returned home Saturday morning bright and early, a tired but happy bunch of Seniors not quite ready to settle down for our exams, which the teachers insisted we had to take. Baccalaureate was held May 24. And then our long awaited moment arrived, Commencement was held May Z7 and we all commenced a new and exciting, but challenging life. May we, each and every one, succeed in whatever we once start to do and overcome all obstacles. Deloris Teachout
