.?6wtaaqaftlQeSenwfLCZaoo Never has a prouder class graduaed from Cambrxdge Hlgh School than our Class of 47 Be sldes havmg satlsfactorlly completed the requlred hxgh school courses we have successfully part1c1 pated xn dozens of extra currlcular 3CtlVltl9S Of course that IS not unusual for any class but we l1ke to thmk of our club leaders our basketball and football players and our class scholars as some thlng SDQCISI Here ln our hlstory I would like to lnclude some of our favorlte memorles and a few of our favorlte people Gomg back to our Freshman year whlch lncxdentally began on September 7 1943 we re member the xmportance of bemg the oldest class at Central and how mce lt was ln our Freshman Domam on the thlrd floor We chose Robert Whxte and Jean Forsythe as our Student Councll representatmves and Thomas Olnhausen was honored wlth the posltlon of V1ce Presldent m the Torch Club Th1s was the first year for compulsory physlcal educatlon classes for glrls Those early calxsthemcs probably should not be mcluded ln our favorxte memorxes l1st One of the hlghllghts of the year was the Athletlc Banquet wlth the outstandmg football coach of Indlana Umversxty Mr Alvm Bo McM1llen as guest speaker Our Sophomore year started on September 5 1944 Because we dldnt leave Central to flnlsh our remalmng three years of hxgh school we shall be the first graduating class smce 1910 that has not attended Brown Hxgh School Along wlth our Student Councll members who were Beverly Casey Thomas Swan Russell Booth and Peggy Mltchell we cla1med the Torch Club Presldent Elmer Ward Secretary Thomas Swan and Treasurer James Addlson Thls year marked the flrst homecommg celebratlon at Cambrldge Hlgh Our Valentlne class party on February 14 1945 was a gala affair and the class officers Robert Whlte Thomas Swan Joan Kaplan and Beverly Casey con trlbuted much to ltS success September 4 1945 was the begmmng of our busy Junlor year The Jr G1rl Reserve leaders Presldent Pattl Hott V1ce Presldent Peggy Mltchell Secretary Joann Rose and Treasurer Beverly Co Edltors of the Cantab Della Mae Ray and Jack Arnold were chosen as the Jun1or cheerleaders Our Student Councxl representatlves Joan Churchman Barbara Darby Dwlght Rutledge and W1l 11am Edmonds dxd a fine Job of advertlsmg our very successful Jumor Play The Charm School Wlth the money ralsed from the Junlor Play the class of6cers Russell Booth James Bowers and Delorys McFarland managed the Jumor Semor RQCQDIIOH The asslstlng commlttees cleverly decor ated the gym uslng a clrcus theme wxth a huge carrousel as the center of attractlon In con cludmg our Jumor year Russell Booth Thomas Olnhausen and Robert Whlte were chosen on the basis of scholarshlp leadershlp sportsmanship and courage for servlce for Cambrldges representa tlves to Buckeye Boys State at Mxamx Umverslty Oxford Oh1o It IS easy to remember that we started as mlghty Semors on September 3 1946 because It seems l1ke such a short txme ago The pattern of thlngs was much the same as former years wlth electlons ln the Fall and partles ln the Spring Our two addxtlonal Student Councll members were Patrncxa Kexser and Russell Booth The class officers were James Bowers Presldent Robert Whlte V1ce Presldent Peggy Mltchell Treasurer Delmar Campbell Secretary and Joann Rose Program Chalrman Senlor YTeens became the official name of the old Semor Glrl Reserves and Joan Churchman Barbara Darby Jacquellne McCullough and Barbara Flemlng held the leadmg posltlons ln that orgamzatlon Durmg our semor year the Cambrldge Chapter of the Nat1onal Honor Soc1ety was lnstalled and membershlp keys were presented to twenty three members of our class At the end of a successful football season Captamed by Delmar Campbell the Homecomlng Queen Jean Forsythe and her attendants Della Mae Ray Beverly Casey Joann Rose and Patrlcla Camp were honored at the annual Homecommg game Our athletlc achlevements soared even h1gher durlng basketball season when the Bobcats won the Dlstrlct tournament at Demson Ohlo Ind1v1 dual honors went to our Wllllam Matthews leading scorer ln the COL when he rece1ved a place on the mythical All Oh1o thxrd team and to the Captaln Robert Whlte who rece1ved honorable mentlon ln the state We couldnt have been more proud of them xn fact we were all puffed up for weeks' Then came the partmes and annual Semor affaxrs cllmaxed wlth the Jumor Semor Rectptlon and ended wlth Commencement We know that thls IS just the end of the begmmng of our llxes and lt certalnly has been a wonderful begmmng O .J C J 15 O 3 I rv T' 7-x 0 I ' I , 5 'WW - , ' 'SAC l lkle ' :Lf l -- IL -1 '-iii . . , !
