After a simply beautiful summer vacation. September 4 found everyone sitting in ll10 auditorium comparing vacation memories and sun tans. After the first week we settled down and got hack to the old grind . VVe started our year off with a party. at which we chose our class president. vice president. secretary. and treasurer. who were Russell Booth. James Bowers. Delorys McFarland. and Elmer Ward. respectively. At the same time .loan Churchman. Barbara Darby. Dwight Rutledge. and VVilliam Edmonds were chosen as Student Council representatives. Hi-Y initiations caused a lot of laughs when the boys had to take a few orders from the seniors. The juniors were very well represented when it came to basketball and football. and Della Ray and .Iohn Arnold. acting as cheer- leaders. helped to keep the fellows peppy. The last semester certainly was a busy one. with concerts. banquets, Junior and Hi-Y plays, and of course, the Junior-Senior Reception. but finally . . . exams. then summer vacation again. We left good old CHS knowing that the next time we walked through her familiar halls we would be 'Lmighty' seniors.
