FGOTBALL The football season of 1948 was no more successful for the CSD grld ders than the year before but they dld thelr best and held the opponents to small scores They ended the season wlth two wms and four losses Onlv five lettermen came back to encourage the green and lnexperlenced players Lloyd Hendrlcks was selected by The Catalzcr an All Amerlcan player for schools for the deaf He ww as our best left guard and had plenty of T N T for the opponents Also Ronald Atkms vs as named for the second tlme as center on the All Amerlcan second team For the fourth stralght year Troy Dax enport our fullback won honorable mentlon We had the llghtest and smallest team th1s year but they proved to be hke real XVHITIOTS The scores for the football season and a short summary of the games are as follows ' CSD 26 Rlchmond 0 In the practlce game we had an easy xlctory over the Rlchmond CSD 6 LIVQI more 19 At Llvermore we had our flrst nlght football game under the arcllghts and barely dropped the battle to the Ln ermore Cowboys CSD 0 Amador 12 In a rugged game at ou1 school we took a bltter loss from the Amador Dons Last year they beat us 18 0 CSD 13 San Ramon 19 At San Ramon we fought stubbolnlx agalnst the VVolw es IH Splte of playlng XV1tl1OL1t a coach wx ho was away due to a death 1n hls famlly CSD 13 Llbertx 20 In Brentvs ood we play ed a 1 ugged and th1 1ll1ng game before mam spec tators and Llbeltx captured the league champlonshlp bv defeatlng us CSD 45 Emeryulle 12 On our athletic field the CSD Eagles exploded mth a sparkhng x lCtOlX ow er the Emers Spartans Wlth excellent blocklng we xx on our first league game , by . .
