FOOTBALL
ROY MILLER, Captain
0 The football team experienced a very satisfactory season on
the gridiron during 1937. The entire team was fast and light
and also full of 'Ido-or-die" spirit and mowed down opponents,
towards the last of the season, with a great show of power.
'The highlight of the season was C. S. D.'s overwhelming of
their traditional rival, Saint Helena, in the Armistice Day
contest, 27 to 0.
'The line was a regular pillar of strength and the backlield
boasted of as classy a span of ball toters as we have had for
years. D-ale Smith, star halfback, and Francis Price, regular
tackle, were the only casualties. The scores were as follows:
C. S. D. 0 Emeryville 3 C. S. D. 14 McKinley 6
C. S. D. 6 Livermore 6 C. S. D. 27 St. Helena 0
C. S. D. 19 Commerce 7 C. S. D. 20 Albany 14
C. S. D. 43 Pleasanton 13 C. S. D. 20 All-Stars 0

BASKETBALL
MICHAEL SKROPETA, Captain
'The 1938 basketball quintet enjoyed a singularly successful
season, winning the championship of the Southern Alameda
County Athletic League. This, the first won by the school
since the erection of the gym way back in 1913, brings credit
to the coaching of Louis Mark Byouk.
'After losing two games at the start of the season the Foot-
hills showed good fighting spirit in coming back to Win the
rest of the games on the schedule.
Q If any player is to be classed as such, the individual star of
our five was Captain Mike Skropeta, brilliant center, who
scored fifty points in the league games he took part in. Roy
Miller and Theobaldo Ruffa played very well. Scores:
C. S. D. 25 Pleasanton 27 C. S. D. 23 Pleasanton 21
C. S. D. 27 Emeryville 35 C. S. D. 27 Emeryville 17
C. S. D. 38 Livermore 29 C. S. D. 20 Livermore 14
